It’s a perfect time to introduce your baby to a range of fresh fruit and vegetables when they begin to eat solids.
Roasted pumpkin puree is a great first food for babies and you can freeze it into convenient cube portions to have ready for when your baby is hungry.
Ingredients:
- 1 pumpkin
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Method:
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Slice pumpkin in half and drizzle with olive oil. Place on a tray and bake for 45-50 minutes.
- Remove from oven and leave to cool for 5 minutes.
- Scoop out pumpkin flesh with a spoon. Mash with a fork or puree with a stick
blender.
NOTE: You can freeze this puree in ice cube trays and pop the portions into a re-sealable
Zipper storage bag. Oven roasting the pumpkin brings out the natural sugars in the
pumpkin, making it more appealing to babies.
